Need help lucid dreaming?

I have never had a lucid dream, and i want to have one.
I've heard of techniques for out of body experiences, but i want to just lucid dream (same thing?)
Most of the techniques i have learned end up with sleep paralaysis, and then you need to seperate bodies.
I've heard of a technique that requires you to lay on your back and resist the urge to move or itch, then you go into dreams.
Any easy one night techniques, that won't result in a coma?

The other answer given is completely false. Any "Specialist" will know there are certain things that cause lucid dreaming. One very good example is anybody that falls asleep with a nicotine patch on will almost always have a lucid dream. Another good example of how to have lucid dreams would be one guy that works for me was telling me how when he was little him and his sister were researching lucid dreaming and came across an almost foolproof technique. When you start to fall asleep or are just about to reach REM somebody needs to flicker the lights very quickly in your room or wherever you are sleeping. Also... falling asleep in front of the T.V. (on of course) has been known to cause lucid dreaming. Hope this helped. Give it a try... consider it your own "experiment". Good luck.

I've been attempting to have lucid dreams for a very long time but can't manage to have one. I spoke to a sleep specialist yesterday and he told me that you can't make yourself have one, they just occur.
