Dream about washing clothes, changing into a white shirt, gold coins?

I had a dream last night that I found to be interesting as well as perplexing, and I am wondering if anyone has a good interpretation of it.

In the dream I am traveling with my brother and mother, and I was the one who was driving. We went to a laundry mat to wash clothes. My brother and mother waited outside while I went in to wash the clothes. I had a bunch of silver coins (dimes and quarters and nickles) and I put them inside this machine in order to get some gold tokens so that I could wash my clothes. The clothes came in this black bag (recurring symbol. I have had a few dreams about me carry around a black bag full of my valuables). I go to wash my clothes in one of the machines, and I ask some girl who is there washing her clothes whether I could use the machine next to her, and she says that someone else is using it. So, I go outside to check on my brother and mother, and my brother is on the phone with my father. He had promised my brother he would take him somewhere, but he calls him to give him excuses about how he might have to cancel the plans that he made. I get upset about this, take the phone from my brother, and start yelling at my father to just be honest and tell him the truth.

When I go back inside the laundry mat, I notice that someone is trying is accidentally about to take my bag full of clothes. I grab the bag from him, open it to show him that they are my clothes, and the guy begins to make fun of them, making jokes that they are feminine. Someone else jokes, and as I am about to fight him, he tries to calm the situation telling me that "I gave him my nuts."(sexual joke).

After the situation with the guy ends, I go over to one of the open washing machines and put my clothes in the washer. While I wait for my clothes to wash, I go and get something to eat (i believe it was in the laundry mat. Not sure tho). I notice I am wearing a white tank top (im a male btw) and some short shorts, and I feel somewhat feminine in those clothes. I leave feeling somewhat embarrased. I can't remember if my clothes ever finished, but I do remember watching them wash for awhile. My brother and mother are gone, so I take my mothers car and I decide to drive toward the destination we were headed to (not sure if I was heading to a new home but I have the impression that we were traveling to some place, and not just traveling to the laundry mat).

I use the GPS in the car for directions, and while I'm driving, I come across this school; and for some reason, I leave my car to go into the school. When I get inside the school, I decide to get up on the walls and jump wall to wall, high above everyone's head, and I watch whats going on. I notice a pair of lovers embracing, and I think about how they don't know that what they are doing is only temporary. They don't know where they will be in a few years, and that they may not be together. (guess I thought that thinking about my ex girlfriend from when I was in high school and first few years in college). When I leave the school, it is morning time, and I go up to my mothers car and notice my reflection in the mirror: my white tank top has turned into a long sleeved shirt, I am wearing long pants instead of shorts, and I have a brown fur jacket on (much like one that I own). The dream ends here.

Can anyone give me a decent interpretation of what this dream was about? A bunch of the symbols are recurring (gold coins, changing into a white shirt, traveling, black bag full of valuables).

I'll suggest a few things that may be of use!



Gold and silver are associated with masculine and feminine, much like the sun and moon are. The exchange from silver to gold coins, also corresponds with changing balance of masculine and feminine repeated within the dream.



Black is the colour we wear when we are going through a transition.. and washing your clothes could symbolise cleansing your identity of past influences.



White would be a symbol of purity.. and the difference between short trousers and long trousers often ( in Britain ) is used to indicate maturity.. ( based on wearing shorts to primary school, and long trousers to high school - the tradition many years ago)



I would guess your self image in short trousers, that you view as effeminate, indicates 'youth', perhaps sexual immaturity.. ie the way that adolescent males can be almost androgenous..( My aesthetic viewpoint only)



The bag of valuables.. could that be a metaphor for your 'crown jewels' (British slang for male genitalia.. orb and sceptre type thing!) sorry but 'money' can also be interpreted in a sexual way!



Certainly your bag of valuables, as much as your bag of clothes, is a symbol of all that you possess.. the clothes on your back.. who you are..Your valuables.. all that you have gained in life experiences, your conscience and your 'riches' - your earned status.. much like coins, more than than simply material wealth.. perhaps your 'value' and validity, your self esteem?



Travelling, could simple be a metaphorical 'journey' of evolution, and self discovery.



Plus using GPS to navigate, in the context of that part of the dream, could be your subconscious's own tool to locate the past memories and emotional pattern of the prior relationship.



The fact your dream end with you back in your familiar clothes, suggests to me you have successfully updated your emotional program and readjusted your gender identity also.



The confrontation with the guy in the laundrymat parallels with the incident with your father. Perhaps your gender identity was challenged when you were younger, depending on how you viewed your role models...



I would presume that there is something in your current environment that is stimulating you to redefine yourself, hence these dreams. I hope you trust in your own way of developing, no matter which challenges you face... I reckon your GPS is trustworthy, and will always guide you to a resolution.. especially since you respect your subconscious and are willing to learn its language! It will surely serve you well!

Cars are symbols of forward movement in life. You are driving so you are in control. Your family is there so the issues involved deal with your family. I think you are becoming a very decisive person.



Clothes are symbols of identity; washing indicates cleansing. You change into a white shirt - white is the symbol of innocence, purity and spirit. You may becoming more spiritual. Black bags symbolize body bags, which symbolize death - and death is a symbol of change, transition and transformation. Gold coins indicate abundance and prosperity. I believe you are making a really high-order transformation in your life right now and it is going to head you in the right direction.



Long shirts and pants, as opposed to shorts, indicate you are maturing and growing up.



Black is also the color of things hidden. Clothes are hung in closets. Are you thinking of coming out of the closet to your family to claim your true identity?

You could also just go to the store and buy some white color dye and see if that does the trick...bleaching is also the other thing to try.
